Saint Bernard Academy is an independent, Catholic, coeducational school serving students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.

Consistent with our policy of diversity, Saint Bernard Academy welcomes non-Catholic families as well as families of all races, creeds, national and ethnic backgrounds.

Our primary goal in admissions is to admit students who will be successful both academically and socially and who will be assets to our community and its mission.

Selection Criteria

In evaluating candidates for admission, Saint Bernard Academy considers four criteria:
  • Standardized performance testing
  • Personal interviews and examinations
  • Reports from pre-schools and previous grade schools, and
  • Letter of reference.

These criteria are accorded different weights, yielding an overall score on which offers of admission are then based.

Applicant Selection Priority

Saint Bernard Academy prioritizes admissions in four distinct groups:
  1. Siblings of returning SBA students who meet the established admissions standards
  2. Catholic non-siblings who exhibit a demonstrable probability of success in the order of their overall scores
  3. Children of SBA Alumni/and who exhibit a demonstrable probability of success in the order of their overall scores
  4. Other applicants who exhibit a demonstrable probability of success in the order of their overall scores, with consideration given to gender parity and diversity.

Saint Bernard Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its education policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school- administered programs.
